Why and when to use plastic

Plastic that are recycled and not lost in the use is a good choice for transportation and general use, however if it ends up in nature it has several hazards both to animals and nature.

Global fish populations are rapidly being depleted due to demand, loss of habitat, and unsustainable fishing practices. When shopping or dining out, help reduce the demand for overexploited species by choosing seafood that is both healthful and sustainable.

Use Fewer Plastic Products
Plastics that end up as ocean debris contribute to habitat destruction and entangle and kill hundred of thousands of marine animals each year. To limit your impact, carry a reusable water bottle, store food in nondisposable containers, bring your own cloth tote or other reusable bag when shopping, and recycle whenever possible.

Plastic is estimated to account for over 85% of the total amount of pollution in the sea, and about 22,000 tons of plastic are released daily into our oceans and on average about 45,000 plastic objects float in the sea per square kilometer. Today we also have several large collections of plastic so-called plastic islands, the largest of which has a size equal to three times France to the surface. Fish and shellfish are estimated to consume as much as 24,000 tons of harmful plastic annually, 267 species in to all seafood around the world are threatened seriously by plastic.
It takes about 20 years for a plastic bag to break down in the sea and then become the even more harmful micro plastic. It takes about 450-600 years to break down the micro plastic. In this way, the entire food chain is exposed to various forms of plastic with the catastrophic consequences this has. Even plastic objects on land and in nature break down into micro plastics and zinc into the groundwater. We humans are exposed to it, through drinking water and food.
